Walk the bridge was originally started in Texas the United States on the 22nd of October 2018 after an alarming number of suicides in former service men and women potentially suffering from PTSD diagnosed or undiagnosed.
Many people were falling through the gaps in the system, and it was decided that something had to be done. A small group of veterans and first responders set out with one clear mission to show people suffering with mental health difficulties that they are never alone. The mission quickly spread across the states as more people became aware of the mental health struggles. People often face recognising that when people do try and walk the bridge together, they do it alone.
By extending the hand of comradery and the hand of compassion saying we will walk with you we help to breakdown the stigma around mental health encouraging others to reach out. By late 2021 Pete “stitch “Colley was ready to bring the movement to the UK with support from his American counterparts stitch himself a veteran decided that the same message was needed in the UK.
In May of 2023 that mission was expanded to the north of England and has operated at various locations with many different charities raising awareness of mental health conditions and signposting people to the various charities and services that can help you cross the bridge from mental health struggles to mental health wellness.
Saying to people in a loud voice no matter what bridge you are crossing in life you never have to cross that bridge alone.
We will walk with you every step of the way.
It won't be long before you can purchase a
