ABOUT US

The Order of The Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem traces its noble lineage back to the original founding in 1247 of the Priory of the New Order of Our Lady (St. Mary) of Bethlehem. It all began when Simon Fitzmary generously donated a piece of land to Goffredo de Prefetti, the Bishop-elect of Bethlehem, with the express aim of establishing a dependency house for paupers. This humble beginning eventually evolved into the renowned Hospital of Bethlehem, famously known as Bedlam.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, The Order of The Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem was established with a profound dedication to serving the homeless, vulnerable populations, and individuals facing poverty and mental health challenges. Our mission is rooted in the values of charity, empathy, and unwavering support for those in need.

The Order of Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem, a noble and compassionate organisation based on Chivalry  is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the marginalised and underserved in our communities. Committed to upholding the values of charity, empathy, and support, the Order of Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem strives to be beacons of hope and guardians of dignity for those in need.

Mission Statement

The Order of The Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem is dedicated to serving the homeless, vulnerable populations, and those struggling with poverty and mental health challenges. Through our unwavering dedication and selfless service, we aim to bring comfort and assistance to all who seek our aid, embodying the spirit of compassion and goodwill in our mission to uplift and support those in need.

OKSMB Disclaimer

The Order of The Knights of St. Mary of Bethlehem is a newly formed organisation and is not affiliated with the original Order of Our Lady (St. Mary) of Bethlehem founded in 1247, nor is it associated with the surviving Bethlem Royal Hospital currently operated by the NHS. While we draw inspiration from the historical origins of the Hospital of Bethlehem (Bedlam), our organisation is a distinct entity with a modern mission and approach to serving the homeless, vulnerable populations, and individuals facing poverty and mental health challenges.
